I know, you won’t read anything past this, right? So what can you win?
A $75 Fab Gabs Gift Certificate, a box of Valentine’s chocolates and grab-bag surprise! Not bad, eh?
I wear vintage every. single. day. I’m not good with visual art or crafty things, so my personal style is the number one way that I express myself. My best friend lives several hundred miles away, so on occasion we send each other photos when we’ve really put ourselves together well. (Hurray for the iphone.) Okay, so its vain. I’m alright with that.
I want to see how YOU wear vintage and how YOU express yourself best! The first way to enter this contest is simple: send me a photo of how you express yourself. I want to see how you wear your vintage or how you use what you create! The photos will be posted to this blog in batches, collage style. I’ll extra love you if you send camera phone pictures like these. You HAVE to do this entry to qualify for the other two chances! Email your photo to fabgabsgiveaway@aol.com Make sure to post a comment so I can count your entry easily!
If you've qualified by sending a photo expressing yourself, you’ll get a second entry for tweeting OR blogging about it! (You can blog/tweet first and send a photo after.) Post a separate comment here with a link once you do.
There’s a third way to get an entry, and it is pretty free form. Suggest, provide or brainstorm ways new and creative (also ethical and non-irritating) ways for me to promote my business. Please leave your comment in a separate comment to make it easy for me!
This contests begins when the blog is posted and ends Thursday, February 18th at 11:59 Pacific Time. The winner will be posted here and on Twitter by 9am Pacific Time Friday morning. In fact, I’ll post several times to Twitter to make sure everyone sees it! Good luck everyone! I’ll looking forward to this – it should be fun!
This is RIGHT up my alley, and I'm now feeling so guilty for slumming in jeans (high-waisted, dark rinse) and a sweater (button-front cardigan) today. I'll put together some of my "regular" ensembles, and snap some iPhone photos... as soon as I get a decent full-length mirror!
ReplyDeleteYou don't need a full-length mirror - just a boyfriend! You can also take just a partial pic. It just has to show how you express yourself!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I slum it in Freddies of Pinewood jeans and moth-eaten cardigans. I feel you.
ooh, makes me wish I had a cell phone with camera. Still, I'll definitely try to do some pics for this! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteOh Baroness, you don't NEED to make them cell phone pics! I know you've already got a full stash of photos ...
ReplyDeleteoh yay! i'm going to enter this for sure!
ReplyDeleteis this competition open to people not in the US?! I hope so (UK lady waving from here!) :)
ReplyDeleteFUN! Just sent my pics. A new follower- Steph @ Tart Deco
ReplyDeleteIs there a specific issue you are trying to overcome? If so, it might help if you post it. I just took a gander at your etsy shop to see if I could brainstorm some ideas for you. Your intro is delightful, your pictures are fun and put the clothes in context... As far as etsy, I am not sure there is anything more you can do besides spend all day on the forums trying to get noticed (bleh, tried it, it didn't help much).
ReplyDeleteOtherwise you could try a virtual trunk show. I haven't done it myself, but I got an email from another shop that was doing it and it sounded kind of nifty. The "hostess" got 10% credit on the sales and a special gift.
Yes darling, it is most certainly open to non-US'ers. It might take longer for your candy to get there, tho!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous blog!! Found you through Deluxeville. I'm sending you some pics now. I think contests are a great way to promote, but so are fashion shows and pin ups. You can loan clothes to models to wear in photo shoots (just make sure they link to you) or do a fashion show at a car show or art opening. Those are just a couple of my ideas. Hope they help!
ReplyDeleteYay! I love vintageness, although I'm just starting to work a few vintage pieces in my wardrobe. I will be sending my pics along shortly.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
~Paige
I also posted my tweet! http://twitter.com/PTBabySteps
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and your shop. One way to get noticed on etsy is to post things little by little. I made the mistake of posting all of mine in one day, which was great for the first few weeks, then I stopped getting noticed. New listings pop up first, Another good thing to do on etsy is to really use those tags on items. Use every word you can think of to describe the item (color, era, materials and words like vintage, retro, deco, antique). Put links to your shop/blogs on your email signatures so the word spreads to friends/family and put links to anything you comment on blogs, twitter, facebook, livejournal, etc. make yourself some good looking business cards and when you get compliments on your style, say "oh, well here's my shop" and hand over a business card! You can also do etsy's showcase so some of your items are listed on the front etsy page. Also, ask to trade links with some of the websites you love! Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteoh, I sent a pic too!! :)
ReplyDeleteHello Fabulous Gal! Looks like you got some new followers! Yay! Will send my picture soon!
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
~Mary Deluxe
Miss Mary, I would guess that every single one of them came from you! Darn you dear, now I'll have to actually use my blog and post pictures of things I'm pining for on Etsy and what I'm doing with my house and outfits I go out in! I needed something to motivate me - your fabulous referral that sent so many my way was most definitely it!

ReplyDeleteI *wish* I could wear vintage every day, but I paint for a living. I'm also a super athletic casual girl. BUT I do wear my collection often.
ReplyDeleteSending you the pics in a minute!
Didn't notice the THIRD way to enter. I have two suggestions for promo. One is to join the Vintage Fashion Guild. I was a founding member (but left years back due to politics), but it's a good community of ethical sellers who strive for accuracy and you can give and get great input on your items. The people there also buy, so it's some great exposure for your shop. The other suggestions is to USE that Etsy mini, every place you can think of.
ReplyDeleteHi Darlin! I love the contest I have sent you a few pics and I did a blog post too. Here it is: http://artdecogirls.blogspot.com/2010/02/enter-fab-gabs-vintage-contest-now.html.

Hello everybody! I stated buying vintage on a regular basis less than an year ago so my collection is still very limited which means it inevitably gets mixed with modern/classic when worn. Still I am happy for this stage of development and looking forward to an entirely vintage future!
