Hip-Hooray! A Giveaway!

Since I made it to Day 10 with no fashion or weight-loss fails, I'm having a little Giveaway.
I'll be celebrating this way at different milestones, so you'll definitely want to follow the blog so you don't miss out!

Found on Ebay - you can buy it here

Before we get to the fun stuff:
Starting Weight: 185 lbs
Current Weight: 183.2 lbs
Weight Loss to Date: 1.8 lbs

Currently Wearing Waist Size 33" and 34" Clothes

So, today's prize is inspired by one of my other challenges: makeup. Yes, I know there's lots of great YouTube tutorials for better make-up, but I seldom find the time. My thing is clothing - and bakelite- and so makeup has a history of taking a back seat with me. I recently bought the new Retro Makeup book, and have been working on that! Here's your prize:

What ARE they? Well, the first piece is a vintage lipstick applicator, designed to have you literally "stamp" your lip into the perfect popular shape of the time. Then, there are these fantastic mid-century make-up magnifying glasses. The glass on each eye is individually hinged, so you can do one eye with perfect precision, then the other. Third, you get your choice of one of my two favorite red lipsticks - MAC Russian Red or Ruby Woo!

To enter: Be a follower. (You can start following today!)
Post a comment, and tell me your favorite outfit from the last 10 days OR
tell me what you'd like to see more of.

I'll give an extra entry for sharing about this 365 day challenge -  and the giveaway of course - on Twitter, your blog or a Facebook fan page. Just post the link in your comment!

I will post the Day 11 outfit update later today, and will post the winner with the Day 12 ensemble! I can't wait to send these fun goodies off to the winner.

  6. Hello there!
You and Vintage Vixen's blogs have completely changed the way I see vintage! Before I just thought "vintage is vintage" but now I'm finding that I'm more of a 30's-40's girl. I loved the outfit post on the turban, I've been obsessed with them and yours was perfect. I'm too short to wear those pants, but you looked smokin'!
Good luck and stay motivated! Just remember curves are always in style, no matter what people say!

  8. First I have to say I have no idea where the 50lbs you want to lose is going to come from!! My favourite outfit so far is the 9th day with your 49er jacket; such lovely stained glass colours, and those green shoes!! Covet. Loving the FabGabs blog so far :)

  10. I have to choose Day 8 as my favorite outfit post simply because you are wearing that AMAZING purple bakelite bracelet. I also love how you "framed" it with the two light green ones. I just thought the colors of that whole look were beautiful. Congratulations on your success so far in the challenge! It cant be easy but you make it look like it is!

  11. This is so fantastic, Julie! I've been checking out your daily outfits & you're a total babe! I loved the red ensemble from your first post :)

You're keeping me so inspired with these posts, your candid thoughts about weight loss & workout clothes; I feel the same way! My grandmothers wore cotton one piece gymsuits to exercise in, can you imagine seeing a gym full of rompers today?! It would be the best :)

  13. I loved your casual look on day 9. My life is not always compatible with skirts so I love casual looks! And more bakelite is always good too. ;)

  22. I loved the novelty skirt from Day 10 (like everyone you have also inspired me to buy some bakelite bangles!). Congrats on your aim for the 28 inch skirt. That is EXACTLY how I lost my baby weight (which I think was 7 kilos). I would do lap after lap of the pool (I'm Australian so we can swim a lot!) and think of the dress I was going to buy when I lost the weight. Towards the end I actually bought the most wonderful dress in the size I wanted to be (yes, I know that is dangerous!) and it worked like a treat. I also, I must add, literally worked my butt off at the gym. You are gorgeous, so don't change too much by the way!! Maria, An Australian Vintage girl living in France PS I have discovered that French women don't get fat because they don't eat anything processed - yes, lots of cheese and bread, but all very natural. Doesn't seem to be working for me though!

  23. Oops! I wasn't signed in properly before, but what I said above. Day 8! :) You know I love the 1930s stuff best, so more of that is always welcome.

  24. I love all of your outfits but I am smitten by the circle skirt from day 6 - those filigree panels with van dyke bottoms, swoon!!! And I love how you daintily spread it out. Just gorgeous. :)
I'm in the "What 50 pounds??" category here too. I appreciate that sometimes a woman doesn't feel right in herself and wants to shed a bit of excess, but that is a fairly big chunk for such a petite lass to lose. Please don't obsess about that number, and if you get glorious before then, do call it a day? :)

  25. Has to be day 10's politically incorrect circle skirt! Amazing!

  26. I love Day 6's outfit! The sweater especially! I can never seem to find nice mid-century knits and tops where I live...

Keep up the good work! I'm really enjoying your posts!

  32. I wear glasses so doing my makeup is ALWAYS a challenge! I once saw a pair of glasses like that which were cat-eyes - so gorge! I love your outfit from day 10 - the bandanna with the novelty skirt is so cute. It has inspired me to look for a bandanna I can pair with one of my own skirts.
