Day 24: Use the Buddy System: Join the Challenge

Yesterday, I went over and did some trade with the fabulous Sarah of Stutterin' Mama. She took some stellar photos for me! THANK YOU, Sarah! She talked about some concerns, including me hitting the gym so hard. It could be easy to burn out. And easy to hurt myself, which I've already done. So I agree! To help with the first part - burning out - I thought I'd roll you guys into the challenge, if you're up for it. But first, the outfit!

I love this dress, it's a fairly new purchase, and I think I'll be sorry when it is time to put it in the shop! I like outfits that are SMART, sophisticated and wholly complete. I have everything I need for a blue and white ensemble! The gloves are favorites - I actually bought a second pair when I found them some time ago, so that I'll have backups when these wear out!

Now.... to the good stuff. Want $50 to the shop? It's not a giveaway. It's a challenge. A reward.

Everyone loses weight better on the buddy system. But those sites like MyFitnessPal (which I'm TRYING to do) and Livestrong leave me cold. You're my peers. And some of you want to join in - you've told me so!

So.... the Challenge.
Have at least 20 pounds that you can safely lose.
Start a blog, and post at least three outfits a week.
You must post your starting weight, your goal weight, and you must weigh in with me once a week on Wednesdays.
You can, as well, have a goal of waist size inches.

At the end of the 365 days, I will give a $50 Gift Certificate to the first five people to complete the challenge with me, and hit their goal weight. (Or close to it, I'll be flexible.) Chime in down below in the comments if you're going to participate, and when you start (start before the end of May), post a link to the blog you'll doing it on! Start today - you'll have 341 days to get fit (and fitting pretty clothes) with me!

Hat: Estate sale? Have had it for years. Maybe Lisa remembers!
Dress: Magpie
Purse: Barn Sale. I feel a little guilty - it came with size 4.5 Narrow shoes, and I sold them off and kept the purse because I LOVE it. I never split up sets!
Gloves: Pair 1, Estate Sale, Pair 2, Antique show
Shoes: ModCloth

  2. Hey, Julie! I've been consistently at 185ish for the last 6 months. Not a bad weight loss since last year around this time I was at close to 200. At 5'4" that's just not healthy. But I've had a goal weight of 145-150 that I haven't been making progress towards in a long time. Naturally I've found myself at a great place in life and I'm starting to gain those "Happy Pounds" as well and darn it, I want to get healthy! This challenge could be just the sort of push I need to get my buns in gear and really start my work. I'd love to join you on the journey! Count me in! I'll be starting on Monday. My blog will be at kwirkinmotion.blogspot.com

    1. Well I only want to lose 10 pounds, but I want to get fit, and my goal is to run 3 miles without huffing and puffing. Currently I can run about 30 seconds without falling to the ground. I know I can't join your challenge to win, but you have inspired me to allow the internet to see my progress. Thanks so much!

I'll still be posting outfits. I have a boring job and all that gets me through the day is wearing really nice clothes.

      My blog will be: http://lebeaugirl46.blogspot.com/

      P.S. I love Support Groups!

  5. I think this is something I should do, I started weight watchers in February and I've only lost ten pounds so far. It's hard to stay motivated, and not really having a buddy system hinders it as well. I don't have as nearly the extensive closet you do, so I will most likely repeat outfits, for me that's not the main goal. I've never blogged before and don't know much about it, Do you think you could help me set one up? I'm not really a tech savvy person. I thought of 50 pounds for my goal within a year because that's what my mom did with weight watchers. I know I need this, I'm just afraid of finding time and things to say between school and work. But I would really love to be a part of this!

    1. It really doesn't take a very extensive closet to come up with unique and different outfits! Just for you, I'm reusing some things today, and will try to do that all of next week, to show how mixing vintage separates can help expand a wardrobe!

    2. Oh gosh, just figured out who you are! And I missed the part about setting up a blog. Email me on Facebook, and I'll help walk you through it. There's some super helpful YouTube tutorials out there, too! I know you'll look fabulous in everything you wear!

  7. If I weren't going through so much right now, I would totally join in. But between a family tragedy and my upcoming surgery, I'm going to pass. Good luck though, Julie! And what an awesome dress.

  8. I'll try! 20lbs is on the outside edge of my weight goal but totally doable and not unhealthy... and I need something to kick my butt into gear. I just keep losing and gaining the same 5 pounds over and over again... I don't have nearly as amazing of a wardrobe as you, though!

    1. OK! I'm doing it! My blog is http://polkapolish.blogspot.com/, and I usually blog about nail polish, but I'm adding in the outfit posts and the weight loss.
